IRIS Europe. Physical pilot RIS infrastructure

Customer: Ministry of Transport, Posts and Telecommunications of the Slovak Republic as beneficiary of TEN-T funding

The role of KIOS s.r.o. was to specify and built the pilot RIS communication infrastructure (SlovRIS), including infrastructure for tracking and tracing system in line with the Inland AIS Standard.

The following was built:

• Pilot communication infrastructure for the system of river information services in Slovakia (SlovRIS).
• Pilot shore infrastructure for the tracking and tracing system as the pilot implementation of infrastructure for traffic management.

Communication infrastructure consists of the RIS Centre, located in the premises of the State Navigation Administration (ŠPS). RIS Centre is connected to the internet network via WiMAX technology (microwave technology according to the standard 802.16e in licensed frequency range 3,5 GHz).

The regional point in Bratislava, Gabčíkovo and Komárno are connected via WiMAX. The regional point Štúrovo is connected via ADSL link.

Only vessel position data with other AIS dynamic / static data are sent from AIS base stations from the regional points to the RIS Centre in Bratislava. To ensure the data security, teh communication among the regional points is ensured via VPN tunnel (Virtual Private Network). This communication contains the data transmission from base stations.
